Deputy Director and Chief of Staff: Colonel Dr. Salvatore SCHMIDT, MD (DEU)

The Directorate is the nerve centre of MILMED COE with every outgoing communication and all orders passing through. Under the direct supervision of the Director and the Deputy Director, it employs various non-medical experts and other personnel to aid the “Command and Control” of the COE’s everyday work. Beside the Director and the Deputy Director, it includes the positions of their assistant, the legal, finance, personnel and PR officers, the aide de camp and the drivers. Also, it is the focal point through which our satellite branch (the Deployment Health Surveillance Capability, DHSC) connects to the COE – overseen by the Deputy Director and Chief of Staff.
